I can count them on my fingers…

People, it’s only 10 days until I get to start checking “Married” instead of “Single” on forms everywhere.  As the day gets closer, I’m having more of those “Wow, I’m getting married!” moments.  Ya know, the ones where you stop and pinch yourself just to make sure it’s all real.  Kinda crazy.

Anyway, what has yours truly been up to?  Not a whole lot.  We did go and see 500 Days of Summer on Monday, and we really loved it.  One of the best movies I’ve seen this year.  I’d recommend it to anyone, especially those in college.

We’ve also been working these past 3 days.  Campus is like a ghost town right now.  Everyone has left for the holidays–except Sav and I.  It’s kinda crazy.  We’ve also been moving more stuff into our place the first.  In fact, I’m completely move in.  And tomorrow we head up to Idaho to spend Christmas with my family.  We are so excited to just relax for the next 4 days.  A well-needed break.

It’s been a distracted Christmas season this year.  With the upcoming wedding, I pretty much keep forgetting that this is the time you say, “Merry Christmas!” to everyone.  Savitrii has promised that next Christmas will be so full of holiday cheer that I won’t even believe it.  I’m really excited to be close to a Christmas tree and family, so that it feels more like Christmas.  I promised Sav a Christmas tree next year, so hopefully our place the first will be more festive next year too.

Oh, we started getting wedding gifts the other day.  We got a $10 check in the mail, along with a card, from my great aunt.  Sav got so excited.  She was also very excited today when she checked our gift registry to find that someone had got us the toaster oven.  Pretty sweet, I gotta say.

Well, hopefully the holidays will be more post-worthy.  Merry Christmas!

Breakfast of champions…

Today I woke up with a headache, a throat full of gunk, and a nose full of snot.  Add to that that I had the most restless night sleep I’ve had in a while.  And top it all off with strange dreams where I’m in charge of my fiancée’s dress and clothes for the wedding, and you’ve got a really crappy morning.  Really, the only thing that got me out of bed was the promise of a hot, steamy shower where I could try and clear up some of that precious mucus.

This is the price of dating, being engaged, getting married, and most of all–kissing.  Passing the cold back and forth has become a new hobby of Sav and I.  This week it’s my turn.  It seems that as soon as one of us start clearing up, the other starts coming down with it again.  Of course, it’s all worth it.

So what did I do to combat my crappy morning?  I went to Smiths and bought doughnut holes, a big-ol’-bottle of acetaminophen, and a 16oz Mountain Dew.  I also took some antihistamine and decongestants.  And now I’m feeling much better, thanks.

So what else is going on in the life of a Chocolate King?  Well, we’re counting down the days to W-day.  It’s only 16 more.  Tomorrow I’m only going to have to use one foot to help count the days.  It’s crazy people!  There will be a chocolate queen soon.  We got our bed delivered this week.  They brought everything on Monday…only to leave us without a foundation (box spring).  Our little apartment stairs were just too narrow to fit it down, so we went back to R. C. Willey and spent another $300 to get a split queen foundation.  Ouch!  (They’re rare so they cost more $$$.)  They’ll make moving a ton easier in the future, but still–ouch.

In finished finals on Tuesday.  It was easy, as I had a scheduled final on Monday morning, and so I just had one in the testing center.  Decided to get it out of the way early.

And now there’s only 8 days until Christmas.  A week from now, we’ll be driving up north to Idaho to visit the fam-damily.  So excited.

On a nerdier front, I have been trying Google Chrome on Mac.  It’s snappy, and I like it.  The only thing it’s really lacking right now is Gears support.

Busy like a beaver…

Today, Sav told me today that I need to post. I agreed. It’s been about 2 weeks, since Thanksgiving. Much happenings have happened since then:

  1. I learned that if I double space my sentences, which I like to do, sometimes I get an annoying little space before the 2nd sentence if it occurs right at a line break.  Sorry if this happens.
  2. Sav and I have been making a home.  We started moving things in and making it livable.  The goal is to have everything ready for the day we drive home after the wedding and have the place ready.  Especially since we go right into the next semester.  Right now our furniture consists of a bookshelf, a TV stand, end tables (I already had), an $8 lamp, and matching camp chairs.  We bought all of these items at Walmart.  We’re poor.
  3. We got poorer.  Getting married is expensive.  We need stuff, and the stuff all costs money.  I have no sympathy for my single friends who complain about not having money.  Try getting married, and you’ll find that you really don’t have money.  I’m pretty sure we’ll be eating ramen noodles for the next year.  But such is life.  I’d rather be poor and happy than rich and alone.
  4. Classes are done.  I spent my last week of classes finishing up projects in all of my classes.  That didn’t let me get a lot of work hours put in.  That didn’t let me make a lot for the next paycheck.  See #3.
  5. Finals are now upon me.  I only have 2, and I’m going to finish them in one fell swoop.  Hopefully that will allow for more hours which will allow us to splurge and get mac & cheese to alternate with the ramen.
  6. I’m more excited for Christmas than ever.  This is my first Christmas with someone.  I’ve always been without for the Holidays.  I’m so excited to spend Christmas with my future eternal companion (FEC).

Well, it’s getting late.  I’m hoping to turn in early today so that I can do well tomorrow.  Hopefully I can be better about posting over the next 20 days.
