I haven’t posted in a while. I feel bad about not keeping my New Year’s resolution, even if I didn’t have much to write about. But the reasons I wasn’t writing for the past few weeks have been two-fold:
I noticed that my posts were, well, a little negative. Even when I tried to write something positive, that didn’t happen much. For example–my last post was supposed to be about how cool it was that I learned about rsync. But it turned into more of a rant. In fact, I have a category called rants….It’s new, and I think I need to make everything in it disappear…
But more importantly, I helped my darling Sav obtain a new web address: thecapitall.com. I had been tinkering with Google’s SPDY protocol that would speed up HTTPS access to my site, fiddled around with mod_fcgid for Apache 2, and tested converting my blog into a multi-site blog through WordPress’s network feature. And in reverse order, those were all reverted, which made it a good thing that I didn’t post because I would have lost any changes. (For those of you who might be curious, running PHP and thus WordPress, with mod_fcgid works fine until you need to upload a large file. I had to revert to using mod_php to get Sav’s blog imported. It seems to work best this way, even if it uses about twice as much memory.)
So as a new resolution, I’m going to try and post about more positive things. I’ve probably said it before, but eventually I want to use my blog instead of Twitter or Facebook. Problem is, not many people follow my blog. And that is a pickle.
Anyway, if you haven’t already, check out Sav’s blog’s new home.
